Ram Rebel Black Revealed At The North American International Auto Show

Ram Rebel Black Revealed At The North American International Auto Show

Bringing a dark-themed appearance package to one of the industry's toughest pickups, the 2017 Ram 1500 Rebel Black recently took the stage at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. But it's also going from Motown to your town, with this special-edition pickup scheduled to go on sale in March with an MSRP of $45,590.

Ram Rebel Black

That's for the Rebel Black crew-cab pickup with a Pentastar V6 engine, and the truck also will be offered in a crew-cab configuration with a HEMI V8. In either case, the package includes black wheels, black brush guards and a blacked-out interior. There, heated front seats are a highlight, and they feature black "Rebel" embroidery along with Light Slate Gray accent stitching. That same stitching is used for the instrument panel, center-console lid and door panels, too, while black anodized bezels set off the instrument-panel and gauge-cluster trim rings. Optional for the cabin are black Katzkin leather seats.

It's also worth noting that all Rebel models gain significant upgrades in standard equipment for the 2017 model year. Among them: a Uconnect 8.4 infotainment system with media hub. It's the same technology that was rated as No. 1 by Consumer Reports in the publication's 2016 Guide to Car Infotainment Systems. In the Rebel, the system comes with an 8.4-inch touchscreen and Bluetooth connectivity, which supplies voice recognition and hands-free calling and audio streaming. Navigation and a 10-speaker sound system, with subwoofer, are among the Rebel's top infotainment options.

Of course, many Rebel owners will get plenty of entertainment value from the truck's incredible off-road capabilities. This is one truck that's completely at home on the trail, thanks to robust hardware Bilstein shock absorbers, 33-inch all-terrain tires, skid plates and a factory lift kit for extra ground clearance. Also, helping the Rebel run over typical off-road obstacles with aplomb is a standard active air suspension that additionally smooths out the truck's ride on the road.

As for the Rebel's other new standard features, key enhancements further include automatic dual-zone temperature control, an anti-spin differential, remote start, a security alarm, a restyled, more upscale instrument cluster, and two driver-assistance technologies: a rear backup camera and rear parking sensors.

Said Mike Manley, head of Jeep Brand and Ram Brand, FCA-Global:

Adding the Rebel Black package to an already aggressive off-road truck will continue feeding the momentum Rebel is creating for the Ram Truck brand."

But it's not the only new Rebel edition. Previously announced was the Ram 1500 Rebel Mojave Sand edition. This limited-production pickup is the first Ram truck to wear the eye-catching Mojave Sand exterior finish, and complementing that color are style cues ranging from a performance hood with black decal to a black-themed interior. Ram only will produce 1,500 Rebels with the Mojave Sand package, and since the truck went on sale in December, customers should move fast if they want one.
