2017 Chrysler Pacifica vs 2017 Honda Odyssey

2017 Chrysler Pacifica vs 2017 Honda Odyssey

When you've already won over 30 major awards, it automatically puts you far ahead of your competition. That is exactly what the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica has done so far, and the year is only half over. At Caledon Chrysler, we take a ton of pride in the fact that we offer such safe, reliable, fuel-efficient, powerful, and comfortable minivan. Despite this clear advantage, we thought that it would help if we took a closer look at two of the leading minivans available today, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica and the 2017 Honda Odyssey.

2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Available in three unique trim levels and nine bold colours, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica isn't just a minivan it is a force of nature. The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, which was voted 2017 MotorWeek Drivers' Choice Award for Best Minivan, U.S. News & World Report Best Minivan for the Money and the Detroit News' Vehicle of the Year, is an amazing combination of performance, safety, and technology. Under the hood, you will find powerful 3.6-litre Pentastar VVT V6 engine that produces 287 horsepower at 6400 rpm and 262 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,000 rpm. The exclusive nine-speed dual-motor eFlite Electrically Variable Transmission give you fuel efficiency of up to 8.4 L/100 km highway and 12.4 L/100 km city.* In addition, there is also a Hybrid trim that can get you an astounding 3.5L/100 KM (80 MPGe) in efficiency. All of this also comes with lots of space, 1,633 kg in towing power, and up to 243 available seating and cargo configurations.

Because safety is so important to minivan drivers, you'll be happy to know that the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica includes an eight air bags system with advanced multistage driver and front-passenger, driver and front-passenger inflatable knee bolster, supplemental front seat-mounted side, and supplemental side-curtain air bags for all rows. There are also four-wheel antilock disc brakes with Rain Brake Support and Ready Alert Braking and a ParkView Rear Back-Up Camera standard on all trim-levels.

Staying connected and entertained is a snap thanks to the Uconnect multimedia centres that offer both 5 and 8.4-inch touchscreens, available premium audio systems powered by Alpine and harman/kardon, and even the Uconnect Theater for rear occupants with class-exclusive dual 10-inch front seatback-mounted touchscreens.

2017 Honda Odyssey

This minivan from Honda is available in seven trim levels and up to five exterior colours, however, there is no hybrid trim available. All trims come with a 3.5-litre, 24-valve, SOHC, i-VTEC V6 engine that gives out 248 horsepower at 5,700 rpm and 250 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,800 rpm, both of which are less than the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The six-speed automatic transmission with Grade Logic Control gives you fuel efficiency of up to 8.6 L/100 km highway.*

As far as safety, the 2017 Honda Odyssey includes ABS, EBD, dual-stage multiple-threshold front airbags, and some optional features such as Lane Departure Warning and Forward Collision Warning. This minivan can only tow up to 1587 kg. For entertainment, most trims come with a 240-watt AM/FM/CD audio system with MP3/Windows Media Audio playback capability and seven speakers including subwoofer.

Overall

While the Honda minivan is certainly passable, nothing can beat the innovative 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. It offers more power, better fuel efficiency, outstanding safety and tech features, more towing power, and even a hybrid trim. Of course, the proof is in the pudding, so we suggest you contact the experts at Caledon Chrysler and schedule a test-drive today. We can't wait to see and we certainly can't wait to show off what we feel is not only the best minivan of the year but the best vehicle of 2017.
